A group of illegal immigrants sewed their mouths at a detention center in Roma to protest their “terrible and inhuman” conditions as they have been detained for months.

The protesters who come from Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria used needles in an attempt to express anger about their conditions in the center.

This comes as illegal immigrants in Lampedusa were forced to get undressed and were vaporized, a few days ago.

Earlier in March 2009, a 42-year-old Algerian illegal immigrant was beaten to death by policemen who told him: “go to your country and bring medicines from there.”

The Italian Democratic Party decided to close all detention centers in the country and repatriate or release the illegal immigrants. Authorities questioned about 16,000 illegal immigrants.
