Illegal immigration: 22 Algerian youngsters from Annaba dock on a makeshift boat on the Italian island of Sardinia

Tens of families from the region of Annaba, in far eastern Algeria, have been flabbergasted by the news saying that a group of 22 Algerian youngsters have succeeded in reaching the Italian seashore of Sardinia on board a makeshift boat despite all the hazards of the sea.

The astounding news spread like wild fire just after a phone – call from one of these young illegal immigrants (L.Sofiane), aged just 14, who told his incredulous parents in Annaba that he had succeeded in reaching the Italian seashore in the company of 21 other youngsters whose age varies between 14 and 18.

The crossing lasted, according to him, more than 15 hours in awful conditions.

However, just after their docking on the island of Sardinia, these 22 fearless “Harragas” were intercepted by the Italian coast guards and transferred towards a transit camp pending their repatriation to Algeria.
