Illegal trade of arms and ammunition in toy stores
Security services opened, in the beginning of this week, an investigation on a number of stores in the streets of Hassiba Ben Bouali, Babelouad and La pointe (Algiers), which sell firearms and ammunition illegally, as a dangerous criminal cell used shops for selling toys, as a place to run their business, and this to disguise the security services.
Details of the case, according to Echorouk sources, dating back to last week end, following the receipt of information to the security services about an activity of dangerous cell consisting of more than 10 people, who specialized in illegal trade of guns and ammunition, using shops of selling toys, in the streets of Hassiba Ben Bouali, Babelouad, and La Pointe, for their illegal business.
Initial investigations that were collected by investigators -according to the same sources- show that the owners of shops of selling toys operate within a cell for arls trading, which roots extend to the interior cities, such as M’sila and exactly in the region called “Magarra”, which is the empire of manufacturing weapons, as well as Setif and Bourdj Bouariridj, and even outside the Algerian borders, where they also found that members of the cell have sold hundreds of weapons, and a large number of ammunition, and won millions from it, as prices of guns that were sold by these people reached 500.000 ZDZ.
Same services launched their preliminary investigation, starting with the arrest of three persons aging between 23 and 36 years old, with the possession of firearms which do not carry any legal document, and when listening to their testimony, they found that they had bought them from a store in La pointe street.
Research team of the National Gendarmerie in Algiers, have dismantled recently a dangerous cell, specialized in the trading of illegal arms and ammunition, consisting of seven persons, who used the stores of selling toys, games, archery that are located near the outside door of Ben Aknoun park as a place to practice their activity, as they seized more than 20 arms of all types, and considerable amount of war ammunition, while defendants were placed n El Harrach prison.
