Malian Minister of Defence Natibi Belia who is visiting Algeria said he held talks with Algerian officials on†problems associated with common borders security in order to conduct them together.” This is in reference to the terrorist groups and organized crimes along the borders with Algeria and the Touareg rebellion in northern Mali for more than two years.

Following a meeting with Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, the minister said: “we have exchanged views on common concerns that affected the safety of our borders as we have decided to carry out a consultation in order to conduct this very sensitive problem”.

Malian minister of defence Natibi Belia had met senior officials at the Algerian military institution headed by the delegated minister for the national defence Abdelmalek Gnaizia and senior army officers in relation with the military collaboration and security of borders.

The visit of number one figure in the Malian military institution came in a series of preceded visits to Algeria led by senior security officials in the Malian government.

It also came following the important presidential summit that brought together the two presidents Bouteflika and Amadou Touri in Algeria late last November. It led for the first time to reach an agreement between Mali and Algeria to strengthen security cooperation and protect the borders from the terrorist groups threats, arm dealers and drug smugglers.
