Industry Minister Asks For Postponing The Investment Law
Office of the National People’s Assembly will discuss the new investment law, after it was expected to be passed next week, after the Economic Committee ended the preparation of its final report, taking into account the intense agenda of the Industry Minister, Abdesalam Bouchouareb.
According to parliamentary sources, the Communication Minister, contacted the Council’s office and asked to postpone the discussion of the new investment law under the pretext of being busy with the field work visits, while other parties confirmed that the parliamentary controversy about the text is behind the Minister’s decision to postpone his discussion, at the time Echorouk sources confirmed that the number of FLN MPs, led by the bloc’s chariman, Mohamed Djemei, and deputies from the opposition, on the prevention of passing the law in the current edition, through the interception of its trajectory through criticizing its content, pushing the Industry Minister to take the extra time to calm the situation and manage a new outlet that allowed to pass the current version of the text, which he defends in all his field testaments, which happened most recently in the Second Forum of the Algerian-British Investment, where the minister promised the British investors to provide a new law to invest more in Algeria in a matter of weeks.
This comes at a time when the National People’s Assembly ended the preparation of its agenda this month, as no text is included in the list, which included other legal projects, like the draft law on budget settlement for 2013, and other remnants of the previous session, while the project on investment law was not scheduled, even though it was the first project that was discussed by the Parliament’s Economic Committee.
MPs of the Economic Affairs Committee at the National People’s Council approved, last week, the preliminary report on the draft law, awaiting its programmation for discussion and ratification.
The latter included more than 14 amendments that are mostly related to the correction of errors in translation.
