Influential Muslim television preacher Amr Khaled visits Algeria

Egyptian influential Muslim preacher, Amr Khaled, visited Monday Algeria for the first time after invitation by the Supreme Islamic Council. He proved, despite the controversy he raised, as a phenomenon, among the Muslim elites, and across dozens of TV channels he presented, that his religious activity is largely successful among young Muslims, because he helped them know more about Islam as a peaceful and great religion, and feel proud of their historical and cultural roots.

• “My religious project may contain some mistakes. I think the more we work, the more we can produce. We may commit a lot of mistakes, the most important is to try to correct them”, Amr Khaled said.

• Calling to Jihad in Palestine was an enthusiastic mistake

• “I refused to sign with some Egyptian scientists during the Israeli strikes on the Gaza strip, because it was an explicit call to Jihad in Palestine. Such things had negative impacts on the Egyptians and Arabs. We really care about mobilizing young Muslims in positive issues. We don’t have the right to push them to the wrong direction, such as calling them to Jihad when we ignore the way or manner of realizing a good advocacy. Every one in the world was trying to help Gaza’s people”, He added.

• Echorouk General Manager, Ali Fodile granted Amr Khaled an Algerian traditional male dress called “Bernous”, which is a symbol of the Algerian and Islamic identity.
• “I’m happy with this gift which reminds me of El Amir Abdelkader, symbol of the Algerian resistance and Icon of the Muslim world. I must also speak about Abdelhamid Ibn Badis, Malek Ibn Nabi, and Ibn Khaldoune, icons of the Arab and Muslim history”.

• Message to the Algerian youngsters

• Amr Khaled called on the Algerian youngsters to renounce extremism and neglect those who call for sedition, “Algerians’ power of faith would realize great things if the government devote it in voluntary and charity projects in order to build a good nation, and create patriots who can protect their country and combat any extremism’.
• “Keep in related with your identity because it is the most important part of the human’s life. Don’t be fooled by those who benefit from the social crisis in order to exploit youngsters.   This is my message to the Algerian youngsters who have been fooled by the terrorist groups, which recruited them in their rank”.
• “My wish is to meet with the Algerian youngsters in order to give them a special message, which is the content of a lecture in Algeria. I hope it will be distributed in CDs to show them why our prophet Mohamed -prayer and peace be upon him – did give a big importance for identity and nation”. 

•  Cooperation with great Muslim scientists 

• “I’m preparing religious programs with many famous scientists, including Sheikhs Abdellah Ibn Bya Eshankiti, Salmane Al Ouda, Ayed Al Karani, as well as Drs Taha Abderrahman El Maghribi, and Ali jomaa.”  

• Algerian icons deserve better importance

• “Algerian icons, including scientists, martyrs and thinkers, did not get enough importance and merit. This is not good for the future generations. I feel honoured because my religious programs realize a big success in Algeria. Algerian funs are second after Egyptians. I always receive phone calls and e mails by Algerians who asked me for guidance and awareness, and ask questions about religious and social topics. I’m proud of the Algerian Muslim people, because they like their religion and insist on permanent connection with scientists, preachers and Imams”.
