International drug smuggling ring dismantled in the city of Oran
The security services of the city of Oran in western Algeria have succeeded in smashing an international drug smuggling ring involved in the covert funneling of large quantities of narcotics towards Tunisia, Libya, Egypt and then Europe.
- The drugs were smuggled from Morocco into Algeria and then transferred to the neighbouring countries before reaching several European countries by the members of this trafficking ring based in the western city of Oran.
- Security sources said that over one tonne of narcotics had been seized in addition to several guns and a load of forged documents and fake rubber-stamps.
- The same sources added that 16 individuals including 4 women had been rounded up in the Oran area after an in-depth investigation conducted over the past few weeks by the relevant security services.
- It’s worth recalling that another trafficking ring was blasted during the month of Ramadan last August with the seizure of about 8 tonnes of drugs and the arrest of 13 smugglers including a most wanted drugs baron called M.C, aged 34 years’ old , who used to conduct his nefarious activities in the whole Oran region.
