Algerian international football player Djamel Belmadi is confident that the national squad will beat Zambia in Sunday’s qualifying match to the World Cup.

Many of the Algerian players living abroad say it is difficult to play during the fasting month of Ramadan. How do you think about that?
-
-
It is true that playing and training during Ramadan is very difficult but I always try to find a solution for that. I fast during training sessions and home matches but I eat when I play matches out of the city where I live as religion allows me to do that.

The national squad will play a crucial match on Sunday against Zambia. Are you still following the Greens’ news and what do you think about this match?
-
-
The match seems to be difficult because the Greens will be under pressure. On the other hand, I think we can beat Zambia. As far as I am concerned, I follow the Algerian squad’s news.
-
-
As you have played for the team for many years, what is the difference between your generation and the present one?
-
-
When I was playing for the national team, we did some positive results though we did not have so much means. Yet, I think the current team is strong and it can win.
-
-
Are you still dreaming of coming back to the national team?
-
-
You may be surprised if I tell you I am very sad because I will not play in Sunday’s math. I hope I will be invited to attend the coming trainings.
-
-
Are you in contact with coach Rabeh Saadane?
-
-
Unfortunately no but the head of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) Mohamed Raouraoua in January. He told me it was possible to come back to the national squad.
-
-
It is said the Algerians players in France have troubles. Why is that?
-
-
When players go to England, Germany or any other championship, coaches consider them as no more than players. In France, things change and other considerations are taken in consideration.
-
-
What are those considerations?
-
-
In France, Algerian and Maghrebin players are always marginalised. It is difficult to play in the first and second leagues though we are better than many players of other nationalities.
