Interpol checked Khalifa’s identity, say officials
Officials at the Interpol’s office in Algeria revealed details about Abdelmoumene Khalifa’s extradition from the United Kingdom.
Earlier on Thursday, British justice officially informed Algeria that it should submit a request for Khalifa’s extradition in a diplomatic way and send representatives of Algerian justice and the Interpol.
Three executives from the Algerian justice ministry, four executives from the Interpol in Algeria and a medical examiner were assigned to accompany the delegation.
The delegation went to Britain with an arrest warrant and investigation documents. It was received by a British judicial delegation. Algerian criminal policemen checked Khalifa’s identity and the doctor examined him for more than 45 minutes.
On Monday, Khalifa’s name was dropped from the Interpol’s wanted list. He was extradited to Algeria on Tuesday. He was accompanied by the judicial delegation assigned by Algerian authorities.
