Investigation in Khalifa scandal involves influential French figures

A court in France refused to extradite two eminent fellows of Algerian businessman Abdelmoumene Khalifa Tuesday after the sentence pronouncement had been postponed for 4 times

• The court refused to extradite Mohamed Nanouche, former CEO of Khalifa Bank and Ghazi Kebbache, a founder of Khalifa Group while it continues investigating in the same issue. The concerned suspects were summoned to hear them on money laundry-related cases.
• Ghazi Kebbache and Mohamed Nanouche appeared in court on September 12 and October 7 in 2007 after they were arrested on May 29th, 2007.
• A court in Algeria sentenced them to 20 years in prison on March 22 in 2007 with an international arrest warrant against Ghazi Kebbache and Mohamed Nanouche.
• According to well-informed judicial sources in Paris, the reason why the concerned suspects were not extradited to Algeria is related to the French investigation on the Khalifa issue. British authorities authorised France to receive Abdelmoumene Khalifa, accused of money laundry and fraud.
• Investigation in this issue started by hearing Abdelmoumene Khalifa’s wife Nadia Amirouchene who was sentenced to 10 years prison in Algeria. She was released after 10 hours of hearing seance pending to appear once again in the same court within complementary investigation in the scandal.
