Investigations opened into local government money in Algeria
General Department of Finance Inspection in Algeria has opened investigations on the running of local government's funds.

The inspectors started investigating into the Common Fund of Local Government Financing which constitutes a public institution with an administrative character. Some 75 percent of its resources are from municipalities while 25 percent are from provinces.

The move of the inspection department comes after Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia gave it the go-ahead via an executive decree promulgated in September.

Local government has allocated 22 billion DZ for a middle-term-payment of debts of 1,472 municipalities out of 1,541 in the country.
