Iran’s First vice-President to visit Algeria

Iranian First vice-President Parviz Davoodi will pay a two-day working visit to Algeria on November 15 at the invitation of Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia, Algeria News Agency (APS) said Friday quoting a statement from prime minister’s office.

The Iranian official will be accompanied by an important delegation of ministers and a number of economic operators, the statement said.

He is expected to hold “deep talks” with Prime Minister on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation.

Algeria restored diplomatic relations with Iran in 2000; seven years after ties were severe.

Bilateral relations were strengthened during an official visit of Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to Tehran in August 2008.

In July 2008, the two countries signed an agreement to build a cement plant in Algeria at a cost of 220 million euros.

Iranians are interested in finance, construction and pharmacetical industries. The Iranian car maker Khoudro is already present in the Algerian market. They intend to open an assembling unit in Algeria.
