Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al-Maliki to visit Algeria before year – end
Ali Moussawi, Communication Advisor to Iraq’s Prime Minister Nuri Al – Maliki has announced in Bagdad that the latter will pay an official visit to Algeria before the end of the current year, stressing that Al – Maliki regards Algeria as the closest Arab country to Iraq in terms of brotherhood ties and long-standing cooperation.
In a statement to Echorouk from Bagdad, Mr Ali Mussawi indicated that Iraqi – Algerian consultations were underway in order to set the date of such a visit while recalling that MrNuri Al – Maliki’s projected visit would be the first of the like by a top Iraqi official to Algeria since the downfall of Saddam Hussein’s regime ten years ago.
He also emphasized that Mr Al – Maliki’s visit would be geared to “warming up” the frosty relations with Algeria and examining how best to remove all misunderstandings between the two countries about past events and usher in a new era of fruitful bilateral cooperation and exchanges in various fields of endeavor.
