Is Algeria playing the mediator between Qatar and France?
Qatari PM and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al -Thani left Algeria after a surprising official visit that lasted few hours. He met with the Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika in Al Mouradia castle in order to review the relations between the two countries and ways of developing them, as well as discussing the regional and international issues.

Media in Doha reported that the Qatari PM met with the Algerian president in order to discuss the Arab situation and developments which appeared in the Kuwait and Doha meetings, as well as the Zionist attack on the Gaza strip, and its bad impact on the Arab relations.

Qatari PM went to France, just after his meeting with Bouteflika, in order to meet the French president Nicholas Sarkozy, Elysee Palace reported.

“The meeting will discuss the bilateral relations between Qatar and France and some international issues, particularly the situation of the Middle East and Darfur”, it added.

“The Qatari Prince, Khalifa Bin Hamad Al-Thani, is relying on the Algerian authorities to influence the French position, or at least ask it to be more subjective towards the conflict between Israel and the Arab world, because the Qatari authorities think Algeria can successful play this role” diplomatic authorities say.
