Italian energy giant “ ENIE” spokesman: Algerians will think twice before resorting to violence

A top manager in the Italian energy group giant “ENIE” has indicated that Italy is placing high hopes on the Algerian natural gas supply to cover its demands, noting that the North African country is moving towards a greater political and security stability.

  • The Italian group spokesman Paolo Sacarroni has asserted that the situation in Algeria, which counts among the biggest gas suppliers, is not alarming at all contrarily to what some think, noting that the recent political and popular demands were a natural process that wouldn’t impact on the energy supplies.

  • Talking in a press conference on the sidelines of  ENIE shareholders’ meeting, Saccaroni has declared” The Algerians would think twice before resorting to violence anew” arguing that” The Algerians want to carry on their country’s rebuilding process after a bloody decade that left 250 thousand victims”.

  • Saccaroni has also indicated that  his group is currently negotiating with the Algerian hydrocarbons company “ Sonatrach” and the Russian “ Gazprom “ to struck gas supply long term deals.

  • He expects to reach satisfactory results with the Algerian side within the next few months likely to assure a sustainable and regular gas supply to his country owing to the stability tat’s prevailing in Algeria, in addition to the affordable price of the Algerian gas in comparison with the Russian in the East and Norwegian in the North.

  • The Italian imports of the Algerian gas are estimated at 24 billion cubic metres annually channelled through “ Transmed” pipeline that crosses through the Tunisian territories, but is looking forward to increasing this capacity to reach around 35 billion cubic metres through the renewal of Transmed pipeline in addition to the building of the new pipeline “ GALCI”  to export 8 billion cubic metres annually.
