ALGIERS: Algerian oil and gas giant Sonatrach announced on Sunday it has signed contracts worth 1.16 billion euros with Japan's JGC engineering firm and Swiss-Swedish power and automation technology group ABB.

  • JGC signed a one-billion-euro (1.4-billion-dollar) 42-month contract for the engineering, procurement and construction of facilities in the Gassi Touil gas fields in southern Algeria, Sonatrach said on its website.

Sonatrach also signed a 160-million-euro deal with a consortium including ABB and Algeria’s Sarpi for a 36-month project to modernise the production centres in the south’s Haoud Berkaoui region.
