Jewish lobbyists start a smear campaign against the Palestinian media professional Abdelbari Atouane

A smear campaign was launched since a week by the Jewish lobbyists against the notorious media expert and editor in chief of the newspaper “ Al Qods Al Arabi” Abdalbari Atouane that unfortunately bared him from appearing in the major British and US satellite channels

• But what really vexed the Palestinian analyst is the fact that the Arab media didn’t stand by him at the moment where the first Jewish newspaper in Britain “the Jewish Chronicle” has started a vicious and spiteful campaign against him.

• Echourok has contacted Abdelbari Atouane who didn’t seem surprised to the newspaper’s move. Though affected by his isolation in London, he has noted that Echourok has honored the print media through the number of copies released per day while this platform is witnessing a drastic shrink in general.

• Echourok: You have forcefully slashed at Arab media and labelled him as negative in the wake of the smear campaign launched by the Jewish lobby against you although the campaign is not new?

• Atouane:  Actually, I’m targeted since a while by the Jewish lobby that intensified its campaign to bare me from appearing in the major English spoken satellite channels like BBC and Sky News, to an extent that the Israeli PR ( Public Relations) based in London has boasted in an interview with the Jewish Chronicle that his biggest achievement since assuming his position in London was reducing the appearance of Abdelbari Atouane on the British satellite channels. He has urged the major channels to a void using the term “ Political expert” during my interventions on the TV programs..

• Echourok:  Did the Jewish campaign achieve its objectives?

• Atouane:  It succeeded amid the absence of the other side, in Canada; for instance, I was invited to give a lecture in Toronto but protesters rallied to forbid my lecture, though they didn’t succeed, I realized that I was targeted everywhere.  Two weeks ago I was invited to give another lecture at the Political Science University in London, which is regarded as one of the most prestigious universities in the UK, they tried to bare me from doing my lecture but they didn’t succeed.

• Echourok:  But these Zionist practices are quite usual so is the Arab lethargy, so what pushed you to declare that the Arab media didn’t stand by you?

• Atouane:   The Zionist provocations have reached alarming proportions.. They accuse me of being Anti- Semitic and terrorism advocate and force me to denounce Hamas and Hezbollah resistances … I was affected by the Gulf and Egyptian media that didn’t write a line about me out of professionalism or out of the right of citizen to be informed about my suffering in a foreign country..

• Echourok:  But those media accuse you of being hostile towards them and didn’t stand by them during their doldrums?

• Atouane:  I cannot gave you all the names of the journalists that I supported as soon as I knew that they were barred from writing, I have always give them the opportunity to express themselves through my newspaper “ Al Qods Al -Arabi” ; I have done so with Echourok’s publisher when he had troubles with the British authorities here in London out of duty no more.. Those journalists are not bothered because they belong to the mainstream and are politically correct, I would say that they not only ignore me, but also do their best to harm me.

• Atouane:  Let me tell you what happened to me recently… In the Friday’s issue, the Jewish Chronicle put my photo on the headline labelling me as the biggest advocate of terrorism worldwide, and came back with a series of articles in last Friday’s number in a move to manipulate the British general public so as to boycott me in the media… Unfortunately I didn’t receive any call from any Arab embassy in London. 10 days have passed and still I didn’t receive any call from any Arab representative in London to stand by his oppressed Arab neighbour.

• Echourok:  it’s been a long time that you didn’t visit Algeria isn’t ?

• Atouane: As you know, I’m a member of the Palestinian parliament and our meetings in Algeria were always well organized, your country has always supported the Palestinian cause, but unfortunately my last visit dates back to 1991… I didn’t receive any invitation since that date and of course I’ll be happy to comeback to Algeria at earliest..
