Job opportunities for former detainees
The Algerian government has decided to scrap the obligation imposed on former detainees to produce their past criminal record in their job application documents requested by public or private employers.

The measure is to become legally – binding as early as next year pending the adoption of an executive decree, amending and completing a previous decree introduced on October 5th 1972 related to employment prospects for former prisoners.

In other incentive measures, the government has also decided to facilitate the granting of small bank credits for the benefit of former convicts to help them launch small business ventures as part of an overall employment strategy aimed at ensuring their smooth reintegration into society without any mishap.
