Khaled Nezzar: “I did not meet with Maj. Generals in my house”
Former Defense Minister, Major General Khaled Nezzar, refuted the holding of any meeting in his home, gathering all Generals to respond to political statements that targeted the military institution, saying that what was published in “Algérie Express” is a campaign which targeted him and does not even deserve reply.
Gen. Khaled Nezzar talked, in a phone conversation with Echorouk, about the validity of what was stated in “Algerie Express”, asserting that his positions are known since his departure or divorce of the military institution, and refuted what was published on this website that he have met with seven generals, four of them are still in service, and three retired, to consider how to respond to what was said by the Secretary General of the National Liberation Front, Amar Saadani, who talked to Reuters about the changes which were made by President Bouteflika and the role of the military institution in producing Presidents, a statement that was refuted by Saadani.
If the Former Defense Minister only settled for what he told to Echorouk, he made us respond to that carried his signature and which he preferred publishing it on “Algerie Patriotique” website, in addition to refuting the information, and including it in the campaign that targeted him, and does not deserve a response, he asserted; “when it comes to giving any opinion about the changes, I prefer it to happen in full transparency and in public”, adding “My only objective is to realize the best balance between strategic institutions upon which the security of the country is based.”
“I have already made a media statement when I was asked about the changes in the military institution; I spoke loudly earlier about the need to keep the army from political life. I said that there is a need to separate the task of deputy of the Defense Minister and that of the Chief of Staff, in order to remove the continued military domination on the political life.”
“My relationships with Mohammed Mediène, Gen. Toufik are good and become more durable with the passage of time.”
