Khalifa Scandal:Judicial mistake behind the “extension of prison period” of the arrested

Defense lawyers of the arrested in the case of “Khalifa Bank”, exposed the occurrence of justice in a fatal judicial error, after it continues the detention of the accused, as they entered the prison in the development of the hand which required the accused in a criminal case to resort to justice 24 hours prior to the trial, for “seizure “and placed in custody.

Miloud Brahimi, one of the lawyers in the case, said that the Algerian justice has never seen in the history a similar error, having ” avoided “the release of those arrested in the case in the wake of acceptance of the Supreme Court of the appeals that were submitted to it, and continued imprisonment of the accused who have applied in under “seizure”.

Brahimi added on Saturday, in a phone conversation with Echorouk, that the Supreme Court accepted the cassation in appeal, which means the dropping of initial provisions that were issued in the defendants’ right, what makes them followed once again in a criminal case that requires them, and like all of the defendants, to appear to justice, days before the trial, which is the action taken in the right some detainees, as 14 of them were brough before  judicial body, the night of the trial, in order to apply the seizure procedure,

Add to that, the detainees are currently themselves, they were detained in 2007 in the context of a seizure. In the same regard, the defense lawyer Kalimi Djamel, said it did not happen that Supreme Court takes five full years to study the appeals in cases, and did not also happen that a court took a full year to schedule a case like the Khalifa.

Accused who were detained for a long time launched a strike last Tuesday, asking for their right to fair trial especially regarding the causes of postponment which were baseless, as justice was able to schedule the case one more time without postponing it.
