Kifayah movement to sue Djamel Mubarek, says coordinator
A few years ago, Kifayah movement was created in Egypt as a popular protesting movement against economic, social and political corruption in the country. People from various categories were attracted by it as the Egyptian parties were not able to satisfy their aspirations. Echorouk met its general coordinator Abdul-Halim Qandil.

What is your position after Mohamed Baradey came back. Is there any coordination between you and him and what do you think about his as a candidate for the forthcoming presidential elections?
-
-
We welcome him as a positive and complete phenomenon in the political life and not as a person only. We also hail the radical development in Baradey’s position and his support to democracy and the constitution change. We are ready to have a frank dialogue with him to make things clear about his position towards essential national social issues. I hope that he will not fall in the governmental trap. He is the big hope to change the Constitution and make the Egyptian people’s dream come true.

Do you believe that President Mubarek’s bad health state will change the political game rules?
-
-
I wish him recovery like any other Egyptian citizen but I beg him to give up presidency and let Egypt enter new horizons of development it deserves.

-
Has Kifayah movement filled a lawsuit against Djamel Mubarek?
-
-
Actually, we started steps to prosecute the president’s son Djamel Mubarek for charges related to his wealth and political status. The movement set up a legal commission to make a conception about means to accuse him.

-
Why did the movement choose ordinary people for change? To which extent it relies in them?
-
-
Conferences and meetings are useless as it has been the case for 30 years. Because of that, we found out that we have to rely on ordinary people. We have brought to them an insurgent idea for 5 years like the idea to criticise the president.

-
How is your relation with the Egyptian parties which said Kifayah movement lost its role?
-
-
We talked to all the parties about the importance of working together and boycotting the last elections. Yet, they are confused as they do not know who can help them. Saying the movement is not active anymore is a lie. It is still here and is working on stopping President Mubarek from not having an additional mandate.
