Large participation of Algeria at Tetouan international Mediterranean film festival
RABAT (Morocco)- Three Algerian film directors will take part in the 17th international Mediterranean film festival of Tetouan (northern Morocco), to be held from March 26 to April 2, Ahmed Housni, the event's manager, said Wednesday.
Algeria will compete with feature-length film “Essaha” (The Square, 2009), a musical by Dahmane Ouzid, also in competition at the Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO, Burkina Faso).
Algerian short films will also compete through two productions at the cultural event, attended by 14 countries, and which will show some 50 movies.
The festival will screen “Garagouz” (2010), a 24-minute short film by Algerian young filmmaker Abdenour Zahzah, who won two awards at the 28th Aix-en-Provence International Film event, Festival Tous Courts (France) and the Filmgoers’ Award (Midi Libre) at the 32nd Montpellier Mediterranean Film Festival (October 2010).
