Legal incentives necessary for renewable energy investments: expert

The development of renewable energies needs an adequate strategy and a legal frame especially for investments and funding, CEO of Renewables Academy said Sunday.

  •
  • There is a need for adequate laws to develop renewable energies in terms of investments and exploitation, Berthold Breid said in an Algerian-German seminar in Algiers.
  •
  • Breid added that Germany managed to make progress in terms of non-fossil energies thanks to a well-studied strategy and appropriate laws.
  •
  • The German government issued a set of laws meant to offer finance help to companies for the use of that kind of resources, he asserted.
  •
  •
  • Those laws allow private operators and firms selling and storing wind-borne, solar and biogas energies, according to the German executive.
  •
  • Breid estimated that it was very possible to develop capacities in renewable energies in a short time provided favourable environment is created and pertinent technologies are controlled.
  •
  • He also said the use of those energies leads to the reduction of global energy consumption, the creation of new job opportunities and the protection of environment.
  •
  • Oliver Mayer, a German expert at Global Research said solar energy could be used in desalination and water sanitization.
  •
  • He estimated that the use of solar energy for water control is a “less aggressive” method for environment and more efficient than conventional ones.
  • Representative of the Algerian center of renewable energies development (CDER) Ali Hamidat said the acquired Algerian know-how in terms of renewable energies is becoming more important.
  •
  • He also suggested establishing a “link” between German firms and local operators in Algeria to develop fruitful partnership in that field.
