Libya Military Commanders, Western Regions' Leaders Visit Algeria
A delegation from the Operational Chamber of the Libyan Forces (Al Boniane Al Marsous), visited Algeria during the last few days and met with several important figures of the government, Media Spokesman for the Libyan Forces, Brigadier General, Mohamed Al Ghasri, said.
Libya News Agency (Al Tathamoun), quoted Al Ghasri as saying that the delegation will meet on Sunday, with the Minister for Arab and African Affairs and the Arab League, Abdelkader Messahel.
Head of the military junta of Sabratha, Colonel Al Taher Al Gharabli, told Echorouk that he lifted a request to the head of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Reconciliation, Fayez Al Sarraj, to arrange a visit to Algeria that includes the leaders of the military councils, and the wise men and tribal leaders of the Libyan West, which includes the cities of Tripoli, Sabratha, Al Zaouia, Al Djabel Al Gharbi, and Ghadames on the border with Algeria.
Libyan military official said: “We hope, during the visit, to provide our views to find a solution to the Libyan crisis, and how the interference of the neighboring Algeria in Libya affairs, because we doubt the Egyptian role .. and we will confirm to our brothers in Algeria that the stability of the western region, which includes the border with Algeria would keep stability, because the security of the western region of Algeria is important”, as he shown discomfort to excluding them from the former visit by the Libyan forces.
“Unfortunately, the delegation, which visited Algeria recently was not representative of the western region, and we would like to make Sabratha the only speaker for the western region, and we hope the real representative of the west of the country will be from Al Zaouiya or even from Ghadames in the south, as such the dialogue will be inclusive and transparent, and we will talk fluently and without an intermediary”.
Colonel Al Gharabli added: “We are very satisfied with the role that was played by Algeria, because the goal of Algeria is the unity and stability of Libya, and this is important for us, and we want a greater role for Algeria for resolving the crisis”.
Algeria intensified its movements, in order to find a peaceful solution to the Libyan crisis, after the United Nations’ former and current representatives, the Spanish Bernardino Leon and the German Martin Kobler, failed in keeping the political agreement that was signed in the Moroccan city of Skhirat, which led to the formation of a government of national reconciliation, that is headed by Fayez Al Sarraj, and the higher council of the state, led by Abdul Rahman Souihli, but the political division with two governments, one in the west of the country that is backed by the United Nations and the international community, and the other in the east which lacked international recognition, and two armies and two parliaments, remain the salient feature, with the growing of the terrorist threat, and the suspicious role of foreign powers that are trying to keep their impact on the political players in Libya.
Algeria pledged to reject foreign interference, and the unity of the Libyan territory, and the embodiment of this endeavor was realized by receiving the majority of opponents, both in the east of Libya, as is the case with the head of Tobruk Parliament, Akila Saleh, and a number of MPs, and Fayez Al Sarraj who is internationally recognized, but the recent shift was the military reception of Khalifa Haftar, and Libyan Forces (Al Boniane Al Marsos).
