Libya’s foreign minister confirms departure of Aicha Gaddafi from Algeria

The Algerian government officially informed Libya that some members of late Colonel Muammar Gaddafi’s family including his daughter Aicha left the country to Oman as they got political asylum right there, said Libyan foreign minister Mohamed Abdelaziz.

The Libyan official denied allegations that Aicha Gaddafi did not left Algeria. « At present, we are not sure that all the group [all the family] is in Oman. Yet, late Colonel’s elder daughter is actually in Oman now and I confirm this information. Reports which say that Aicha is still in Algeria are wrong, » he told the Middle East newspaper in an interview.

He also denied that authorities in Tripoli would be concerned about the presence of some members of the Gaddafis in Algeria. « We do not care about this point. As far as we are concerned, our message to the Algerian government is clear. We understand its position and so they do. We do not believe that the presence of the departure of a part of Gaddafi’s family would spoil relations between the two countries for any reason. We understand each other very well. Thanks God, the relations are very exceptional, » he added.
