Life of Abducted Algerian diplomats in Mali at stake, expert says

The Professor of International Relations and Management at the Euromed Management University in Marseille , France Zoubir Yahia , doesn’t consider the death of Abdelhamid Abu Zeid and probably that one Mokhtar Belmokhtar, as the end of the war against terrorism.

He stresses the idea that the final solution should be political and economical backed by a relentless war against the criminal organizations.

In an interview made to Echourouk, the international expert has indicated that the French intervention in Mali was driven by the need to exploit the natural resources of the North African country under cover of the fight against terrorism.

As to the reported news over the killing of Abu Zeid and Mokhtar Belmokhtar, Zoubir Yahia said that he was relying on news released by the Chadian authorities but there isn’t any proof about their deaths.

The question that should be asked is : what lies ahead after the killing of Al – Qaeda leaders ?. Even the most wanted man in the world Bin Laden died but the organization still prevail, he added.

It’s true that Abu Zeid and Belmokhtar were two influential figures in AQIM, but I think that the Malian crisis is not over because war on terrorism should be backed by a strategy based on economic growth and political dialogue.

Even if France and Chad win the war on terrorism, the problem will prevail because the Northern Malian economy is based on drug and arms smuggling, the expert added.

The Former Malian president Amadou Touamane Toure didn’t solve the problem of Touaregs neither the Arab tribes that still lead a miserable life, the Algerian vision was the right one when they called for the separation between the terrorists and the local inhabitants that raised legitimate grievances, but France rushed to intervene.

The expert remained sceptical as to the veracity of the news about the killing of the two terrorist leaders asking whether the US forces have shown a picture of Bin Laden after his elimination?. There isn’t any proof about his death that’s why we cannot confirm that Abu Zeid and Belmokhtar were killed as well .
