Liquor importers pressure to sell alcohol in super markets .
Several shopping mall and super market owners requested from local authorities and trade ministry services to grant them permission to sell liquors following the example of malls established in some Arab and European capital cities, such as “Carrefour†chain.
-
But the interior ministry ordered local authorities to deny these requests and do not permit to anyone the selling of alcohol inside the super markets. This decision has been extended to the shopping mall owners forbidding them to reserve liquor stands because these malls are attended by common citizens.

Not happy with the decision, some alcohol importers staunchly criticized the local authorities arguing that super markets in Algeria must meet the international standards and have to provide their Algerian and foreign clients with products.
