Results of the local elections disappointed Algerians’ hopes and aspirations of resolving the situation of the country described as an “idle”, as Analysts think that the victory of the parties that belong to the power, is a sign of a continuing tension that marks the political scene.
Observers to the political situation in Algerian think that, results of Thursday’s elections, is a reproduction of the last legislative elections’ results, which has shown a tendency of authority which would keep situation continues as it is, confirming that it was able to bend to storm of the “Arab Spring”, which blew more than one country in its regional environment.
The question that imposes itself here is: Why the power in Algeria, succeeded where others failed?
A researcher Arezki Ferrad, presents a number of data which is believed to have contributed to the continued control of the National Liberation Front of the political scene in the country saying; “The political situation can not be reconciled in light of the continued use of the country’s icons, which is the National Liberation Front by power. FLN should be put away from political exploitation”.
Arezki Ferrad wondered; “Why does the National Liberation Army is put in the museum, and is replaced by the National People’s Army, while the National Liberation Front is an exception in this procedure? The Liberation Front is a symbol of the country, and therefore it belongs to all Algerians, but not to a certain class without an other. It symbolizes taught in educational institutions and universities, and a mentioned entity even in the national anthem, which makes it always close from the hearts of Algerians”.
“The continuing political use of this icon, discredit its reputation. It is unfortunate that the candidacy in this party causes battles between citizens, and bribery becomes a key to enter the political arena under the cloak of the old party.”
“The two parties thatare affiliated to authority won the elections because of the reluctance of voters to participate in the polls, because of their desperation of a change through the mechanism of the election, which had been emptied from its contents, in the words of the former MP, who pointed out that the number obtained by Liberation Front and the National Democratic Alliance, is a minority compared to the number registered in the national voters’ card”.
A writer and political analyst, Abed Charef, thinks that the continuation of the political scene as what it is, is a natural consequence of the regime’s policy, which is based on smashing everyone who poses a political project that threatens its interests; “There is no political class in Algeria. There is an authority that is specializing in breaking everyone who presents itself as an alternative, so as it remains the only alternative. “
“The state should use its power for the public interest, but it preferred to be guided by the negative point of view, and this is the nature of the closed regimes, which have thought and implementation mechanisms, but are keen not to put it in its natural and right context.”
“The situation will continue as it is, a regime that works for its survival, ignoring the interests of society, and distributing oil money, but can not build strong institutions, successful economy and a healthy system”.
