Louh : “No bipartite, tripartite meeting before mid-2009â€
The Algerian Labour and Social Security Minister Tayeb Louh has ruled out any bipartite or tripartite meeting before the first semester of 2009, stressing that the planned encounter bringing together the Employment Ministry, the Employers’ Confederation and the UGTA Union will be solely designed to shore up the implementation of the National Social and Economic Pact.

The Minister told reporters in Algiers that the 2009 tripartite meeting, involving all the parties concerned, would be focusing its proceedings on how best to draw up an efficient and reliable labour code meant to serve as a reference document in any labour – related issue during future negotiations.

Tayeb Louh also announced on the occasion a Ministerial decision pertaining to the creation of 6.000 new jobs in Algeria’s flood – stricken regions including Ghardaia, Ain Defla and Bechar in a bid to curb unemployment, notably among the jobless youth, he said.
