Louh: “No complaints for judicial supervision of individuals having participated in an unauthorized march” in Algiers since 2009

The Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals, Tayeb Louh, said Thursday that his services “were not informed of any complaints” regarding the putting under legal supervision of former members of the Islamic Salvation Front Party (the dissolved FIS) as from 2009 for taking part in an unauthorized march in Algiers.

Responding to a question from MP Hassan Aribi at a plenary session devoted to oral questions at the people’s national assembly on “putting under judicial control since 2009 three members of the dissolved FIS party namely (Ahmed Ben Mohamed, Kamel Guemmazi and  Abdelkader Boukhamkham) for participation in a unauthorized march in Algiers against the Zionist entity, Mr. Tayeb Louh said that “no complaints were filed about these three individuals,” announcing that “an investigation will be opened for this purpose”.

He said in this respect, that “if it turns out that the procedure was illegal, then we’ll impose the necessary measures.”

In a separate file, and as regards the diversion for business purposes of agricultural lands in several parts of the country, the Minister of Justice stated that the justice “will play its full role” and “will decide on the reported cases in accordance with the law”, recalling that “whoever is implicated, justice will play its part with regard to the protection of agricultural lands and the sustained fight against criminal offenses”.

Mr. Tayeb Louh, also pointed out that the ongoing process of reform of the judiciary and the introduction of new technologies in the legal sphere had helped bring justice closer to the citizen.

The process of reform of the country’s judicial system and the introduction of new technologies in the legal field “helped bring justice closer to the citizen in particular as regards the issuance of the certificate of nationality, criminal records and documents of the Supreme Court “said Mr. Louh, in response to a question asked by MP Cherif Chibane at the plenary session of the national People’s Assembly (NPA) for the establishment of a tribunal in the daira or administrative district of Achacha, in western Mostaganem province.

The action plan for the revamping of justice “is focused on the staffing of the justice sector in judicial structures, while giving priority to remote areas of the country,” noted Mr. Louh, citing the opening of a Court of justice in Tindouf (south-western Algeria) and another one in Souk Ahras (eastern Algeria), in order to curtail the strenuous back and forth movement of citizens.
