LREM MP Souad Zitouni Defends Wearing Headscarf In The French National Assembly

An LREM MP (President Emmanuel Macron’s En Marche Party) of Algerian origin defended, on Thursday, the wearing of Headscarf (Hijab) in the French National Assembly, saying that living together does not mean living the same way.

The MP Souad Zitouni, representative of the “La Republic En Marche” party condemned discrimination and inequality in dealing with Muslims based on appearance.
“Combating discrimination and inequality is also part of the Republican promise”, MP Souad Zitouni said.
She expressed her deep regret about what is happening, saying: “I feel as though I have been in a trial for a while, which is a trial against Islam and Muslims.”
“Living together does not mean living the same way”, she added.
For his part, the French MP, M’jid El Guerrab, criticized at the Bourbon Palace, on Wednesday, the proposals of his colleagues who want to ban wearing the Hijab in public places.
Days ago, the leader of the French far-right, Marine Le Pen, proposed, on Friday, a law to ban the wearing of Hijab in the public space in France.
Le Pen said her party declared war on what she called extremist ideology.
