Luxurious cars stolen from Belgium and Italy for sale in Algeria

Court of Cheragua, Algiers, launches investigation on the international smuggling of luxurious cars from Europe towards Algeria. Three Algerian businessmen are involved and have to answer questions by the investigating judge on charges of organized crime and international smuggling of cars, forgery and fraud. 

• Echorouk sources said the victims of the crime are two Belgian companies of renting cars. Facts were discovered last December, when security authorities arrested the suspect “B.H”, a trader in Algiers living in Ain El Beniane. They asked him about his Mercedes with a foreign number, he said he was waiting in Houari Boumediene international airport because his friend was coming from Marseille in order to bring him house on his “Clio” then he was arrested without knowing the reason.

• His friends “B.S” and “F.Y” were arrested in the same day to be transmitted to the investigation police in Ain El Beniane, after a Belgian-Moroccan man told security that his Mercedes was stolen in Belgium.

• The civil part “A.A”, representative of the car rent company said an unknown person has stolen his car type “Mercedes” and that he came from Belgium to Algeria following the device inside his car which has a GPRS system able to detect its geographical situation.

• This system showed that the car passed on the Moroccan-Spanish borders then entered Morocco, in the same night entered Algeria through the Moroccan borders then settled in Algiers, exactly in the 5 July stadium, then in Ain El Beniane.

• The Belgian citizen said “there are also two cars BMW; they have been stolen in Belgium”.
