Macias described Algerians refusal to his first visit as “racism”

Zionist singer Enrico Macias said the visit he was supposed to pay to Algeria last year’s winter with French President Nicolas Sarkozy failed because of the “personal decision” taken at the last moment. Fears for French interests were behind that.

• Enrico Macias said  he was surprised by the Algerian racism which he considered strange for them.
• In the first question asked by one of the French journalists, through a lengthy dialogue conducted within a few days ago, carrying provocation and incitement about what they called “Algerians hatred to him”, and wondering about the background of his adherence to visit Algeria where he was born.
• Macias replied that he felt sorry because of the difficult position which he called “racist.” He also regrets because the invitation was from French President Sarkozy to accompany him in his diplomatic visit and he preferred to stay neuter in light of the advertised refusal on his visit so as not to harm the interests of France.
• It seems that Macias, who was known by his support for Israel, responded in this time diplomatically on the failure of his visit to Algeria issue, saying “I will not visit a country which does not welcome him”.
• But Sarkozy’s reassurances written in many international newspapers where the French president advised him to be “patient”, asserting that he will visit Algeria one day, and whatever this will cost him it appears to have contributed in changing his decision.
• This artist who was born in the one and half million martyrs’ country is unaware that Algerians stood against his visit particularly associations and personalities from the anti-normalizing patriotic movement, because they will not forget despite his homelessness mentioned in his sweet songs about Algeria.
• His position which diminish the Arab value and defend the heinous crimes perpetrated by Israel in the Arab regions, starting from 1967 when he went to the battlefront in Sina and sang for the Israeli soldiers when they attacked the Arabic soldiers on the Egyptian front, and then he came out in marches supporting the former Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon during El Aksa Intifada.
• He said in his latest statements that he would be honored to sing in this 9th June in Tel Aviv and Haifa, to mark the sixtieth year of the Israeli state settlement in the heart of the Arab nation, then he praised the Israel is a natural miracle growing to become strong, and that he felt each time an Israeli died a deep wound, in addition to his agreement with war for Israeli victory.
• Algerian Minister of Culture Khalida Toumi had told Echorouk that the singer Macias is welcomed in Algeria if he abandoned “Zionism” pointing out that the Algerians rejection to his visit with Sarkozy was due to his statements supporting the Zionist ideology and encouraging the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people and particularly on Ghaza’s population.
