Madjid Bougherra spoke to Echorouk during the training camp in Crans Montana, Swizerland
Algeria’s team defender Madjid Bougherra said he is very optimistic about the chances of Algerian players in South Africa WC.
- Magic Madjid Bougherra asserted he wishes to go further and honour the Algerian flag. He also wishes all players would recover to enable coach Rabah Saadane of using all his tactics in the first three matches of the group C.
- Echorouk: How are your preparations in Crans Mantana?
- Madjid Bougherra: Everything is okay; we are doing well at mornings in a hall for muscular exercises and at evenings in stadium. This will help us a lot in our preparations for the WC.
- Echorouk: You were absent on Friday, why?
- Madjid Bougherra: I preferred doing some exercises in the hall in order to restore all my capacities after my last injury in Glasgow Rangers.
- Echorouk: What is the nature of your injury?
- Madjid Bougherra: It is not dangerous, and I assure fans that I am ready to show a good performance, especially since the Algerian team has a professional medical crew from Espitar.
- Echorouk: Do you think that Crans Montana is the best place for your preparations before participation in the WC?
- Madjid Bougherra: Crans Montana is region known to the whole world, as many teams join it for preparations for important sports events. I think that Rabah Saadane chose the best place.
- Echorouk: During your training camp, we noted the presence of new players. How was their integration with you?
- Madjid Bougherra: Everything is Okay; we the ancient players always help new players adapt within the team, it is our duty because we represent the entire country.
- Echorouk: Are you morally affected following the absence of your past teammates, including Zaoui and Rahou?
- Madjid Bougherra: We are sorry for them, but these are the rules of football, and the coach is the only one who can determine the list of players to represent WC team.
- Echorouk: Some people think that you will travel to South Africa only for the sake of playing a WC game. What could you say?
- Madjid Bougherra: We will not move to South Africa for tourism. We will do our best and use all our chances because we have a good team that is able to qualify despite difficulties.
- Echorouk: Some British newspapers talked about contacts between you and Liverpool. Is it true?
- Madjid Bougherra: I red about this news on the net. However, I assert that I know nothing about these contacts and no one spoke to me about them.
- Echorouk: But your manager said you want to leave for Liverpool.
- Madjid Bougherra: I do not think a conscious player refuses to play for such a large club, but this is not my choice, as long as I am satisfied in Rangers.
- Echorouk: This means that you will decide after the WC.
- Madjid Bougherra: Contacts now, but signings after the WC, as I prefer focusing with the national team and I do not want to talk about my personal future right now.
