Maj. General Boustila: “A green wall and special shields to secure Algerian borders with Tunisia and Libya”

Constantine (east of Algeria) – Maj. Gen Ahmed Boustila ordered security forces in the Algerian borders with Tunisia and Libya to be cautious from any attempt to penetrate Algeria’s soil through tighter control and build a well of armed forces to prevent arms and food smuggling.

The instruction by the commander of Algerian forces  came following an emergency meeting held on Wednesday with units of the National Gendarmerie in the Fifth region Constantine (east of Algeria), after serious developments in the Algerian borders with Tunisia and Libya encouraging food and arms smuggling.

On that basis, Maj. Gen Boustila orders the recruiting of border guards, units for research and investigation, intervention squadron to monitor the region and secure Algeria’s eastern borders in order to stop smugglers.

He also ordered the activation of units to secure roads to thwart any attempt for smuggling foods and arms.

In a related context, Maj. Gen Boustila insisted on the need to determine the regional nature and strengthen the capacity of surveillance and intervention to evaluate the sense of security among citizens and repel crimes.

“If semi-urban areas are currently addressed through separate operations in the framework of what is called “flash operation”, the units in charge should update schemes of general control and security on criminal activities by regions of competence”, he explained.

The Commander of gendarmerie insisted on resorting to scientific and technical means for a better conduct of the security situation, which is becoming more and more complex, and doubles the effective functioning of the national gendarmerie with respect for laws.
