Malaria raises panic among Algerians

Health department in the province of Oran (west of Algiers) Sunday said two persons hit by Malaria are under intense treatment and there is no need to worry about them.

The two cases were discovered on Thursday as they were contaminated by people who came from Burkina Faso. Two Malaria cases were found in the province of Tlemcen (west of Algiers).
Health department expects other contamination cases as a large number of persons went to Burkina Faso to support Algeria national team in a
football match.
The Algerian health ministry will hold a meeting on Monday of national experts to talk about contamination causes and examine mobilized meansto eliminate the disease.
Salim Belkacem, press attaché at the ministry told a national radio channel that Malaria is not a contagious disease but it can be transferred by insects.
Director of the central pharmacy Cherif Delhi said all the hospitals are provided with medicines to treat everyone hit by the disease.
