Manchester seeks Benzema

Manchester United is seeking to hire French international Karim Benzema, his agent EL Djaziri said to the Spanish newspaper El Mondo.

  • United faces competition from Real Madrid and Barcelona in the deal.  “ I know that Lyon’s directors have met with Barça, Real Madrid and Manchester United representatives and that all those three great club are very interested in signing him regarding next season.”, said El Djaziri.
  • Earlier this month, Benzima admitted he fancied a move to United as he believed it would be the right club for his “development”.
  •
  • French Lyon striker, Karim Benzema previously said he wants to discuss his future with club president Jean-Michel Aulas at the end of the season with a view to a move abroad, possibly to Manchester United.
  • The French -Algerian  striker scored a majestic goal against United in last season’s champion’s league. He is  followed by some of Europe’s biggest clubs, even though Aulas has set the transfer price at £86 millions. However, Benzema admits that one day he wants to join a top club in Europe, Real Madrid, Barcelona, United and AC Milan are among those reportedly interested in signing him.
  •   “There are a lot of clubs, Barça, Real, but also Manchester United, Milan: they are all big clubs you dream about,” he said. “I like Spain, but Manchester, Milan, you progress so much there. I want to progress at the highest level to be among the world’s best.”
  • Benzema scored more than 30 goals last season in all competitions and has notched eight league goals so far season and three more in the Champions League. However, he has expressed frustration at occasionally being rested by Lyon coach Claude Puel and wants to discuss his transfer value with Aulas at the end of the season.
  • “We’ll have to see that with the president,” Benzema said. “People have been shocked because it’s a big amount … We’ll finish this season and then we’ll see.”
