Matmour to Echorouk: “I am not keen to remain with Borussia Moenchengladbach…”

During a courtesy visit paid yesterday to the premises of the newspaper “Echorouk” in upper Algiers on the occasion of a ceremony organized by Echorouk in honour of the 2010 Baccalaureate laureates, the talented striker of the Algeria football squad, Karim Matmour, replied on the sidelines of this ceremony to our reporters' queries about the Greens' recent World cup participation and his doubtful future with his first – division German squad of Borussia Moenchengladbach.

• “The future of national team coach Rabah Saâdane is not in the realm of the players”
• Karim Matmour said that the players of the national football squad were not entitled to decide themselves on the future of Rabah Saâdane at the helm of the Greens’ technical staff.
• He stressed that this sensitive issue should be dealt with by the Algerian football federation and the youth and sports Ministry which both have a decisive say on the matter.
• However, Karim Matmour indicated that he was personally in favour of stability for the sake of the vested interests of the Algeria line-up and the whole nation.
• “I want to embark upon a more attractive footballing adventure”
• Karim Matmour further asserted during our discussion that he was now really intent on quitting his current first – division club of Borussia Moenchengladbach with the aim of embarking on a more rewarding footballing adventure.
• He said that he preferred to play next season either in the French, Italian or Spanish championships to feel as he put it new sensations and to forge ahead in his professional career with better career prospects.
• Matmour said in this connection that he had entrusted his personal manager to study for him the best and most enticing recruitment offers from first – league European clubs as early as possible before striking any official deal.
