Algeria's energy minister Youcef Yousfi

Lakhdar Ben Khelaf, Member of Parliament for the Front of Justice and Development asked energy minister Youcef Yousfi about measures he would take against suspects involved in corruption cases.

The deputy said judicial authorities in some foreign countries opened investigations into corruption cases at their companies. Their officials would have given bribes to Algerian counterparts to get hydrocarbons-related contracts.

Mediators distributed the money on Algerian officials after former energy minister had dissolved joint ventures between Algeria’s energy group Sonatrach and foreign companies and transferred their projects money in Algeria to a “spoilt” company.

Ben Khelaf believed that information announced by foreign justice is a “real conspiracy” against Algeria. He said officials betrayed Algeria and stole its resources.
