Menasra to Echorouk: “We want a consensus candidate who can gather Islamists, Nationalists and Secularists”
Leader of the Front for Change Abdelmadjid Menasra called for the need to reach compatibility between the current different political parties in Algeria for the success of the democratic process, saying in a statement to Echorouk that since the uprising of October 88 the country lived a transitional stage.
“There should be a consensus candidate to gather the three blocks in the country “Islamic, National and Secular” for a period of one presidential term during which we can constitute a national consensus government, with the reform of the constitution through drafting a compromise for the success of the democratic course, following the invitation to participate in local and legislative elections and localities prior to the promotion of a national reconciliation.
Menasra did not mention specific names, and when talking about the conclusion of the Summer University of the Front for Change, which lasted from 4 to 7 Sept in the touristic complex of Zemmouri maritime in Boumerdes, which was held under the title of “Democratic Compatibility to combat corruption, tyranny and the coup” in the presence of 150 participants, including officials of the Front for Change in several Wilayas, where many topics that dealt with the fight against tyranny and corruption in Algeria were discussed, including the “democratic transition in Algeria” and “mechanisms of peaceful and democratic struggle” and “the role of the media in the Democratic Convergence”, as the university also held a seminar on the “Presidential elections in Algeria .. An opportunity for democratic reconciliation”, as the participants talked during the works about various topics as priorities of the Front for Change at this stage, and many experiments were discussed as the impact of the Egyptian experience on Palestine, the Arab Revolutions, Iraqi and Tunisian experiences in reconciliation.
