Mines smuggling attempt foiled west of Algeria
Algerian security forces Tuesday foiled an attempt to smuggle 183 anti-personal mines containing TNT in Tlemcen province (west of Algeria), according to the National gendarmerie.

The mines were carried on 2 motorcycles heading to bomb making workshops belonging to the terrorist Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC) based in Boumerdes (50 km east of Algeria), said the same source.

Four of the smugglers led by a Moroccan national were arrested while two are still on the run.

This is the 5th seizure of its kind carried out by the National Gendarmerie forces in Tlemcen in less than a year.

A total of 134 mines were seized in less than 2 weeks in eastern Algeria.
