Moammar El – Queddafi sent money to Ben Ali in a move to stifle the revolution
Several leaders from the Tunisian Islamic party “ Enahdha†have revealed that the fonder of the Independent National Union, Salim Erriyahi has committed gross irregularities during the last elections when he tried to bribe voters with money.
- Several Tunisian media professionals have indicated to Echourouk that Salim Erriyahi is a young businessman who started a flourishing business between Tunisia and Libya in the hydrocarbons sector and had close contacts with Zine Al Abidine Ben Ali and Moammar El – Queddafi.
- At the outbreak of the Jasmine revolution, the late leader Moammar El Queddafi gave him huge sums of money ( some estimated it at roughly $ 5 million) and asked him to forward it to the ousted president Ben Ali in order to smother the revolution.
- But Salim Erriyahi kept the money for himself and used it for the founding of his party and bribe voters and candidates with staggering sums of money and other donations including cars and houses.
