Mokri: “it is my turn to be MSP’s leader”
Abderrezak Mokri

Vice-president of Algeria’s MSP party Abderrezak Mokri believes that it is his turn to be the party’s leader. Its old tendency which was changed by the Consultation Council has become a scourge in the movement and in the county, he told Echorouk in an interview.

The MSP’s congress was prepared in silence. Is it calm before the storm?

There will be no storm this time because the competition will be between points of view and not people. The general policy which was approved by the Consultation Council opened door to a large political performance. Participants in the congress will have to choose their leader according to this policy.

What are the names who may succeed Abu Djerra Soltani?

It seems that they are the names reported by media. There may be others.

It is said that you are the strongest competitor for the movement leadership.

Things have not been decided yet. The old tendency partisans are still making efforts.

It is also said there are pressures on Soltani to support your potential rival Saidi. Do you have any comment on that?

He is free to do that.

You say people who seek leadership should not be leaders. Yet, you did not refuse to run for the movement leadership.

Running for leadership is not forbidden in Islam. I have been a member in the Consultation Council since 1989. No one was so patient in the movement like me. Anyway, I will continue my work on different levels including politics and preaching.

Will the MSP’s fifth congress be an occasion to reconcile between conflicting members?

The congress will be a big boost for reconciliation and unity. Endeavors are going on very well.

Do you believe that the Muslim Brotherhood deepened conflicts inside the movement?

We welcome any endeavors either from the Muslim Brotherhood or others. We have no rejected any suggestion so far.
