Owners of the initiative of criminalizing colonialism are expected to propose the law before the French President, Francois Hollande, who will pay an official visit to Algeria, in which he will meet MPs of the two chambers, as they did not rule out putting it to the debate if he opens the way for MPs during their meeting with the President.

FLN’s MP, Moussa Abdi, and owner of the proposed law for criminalizing the French colonialism, said that the MPs will wait for what the president will say in front of them in the meeting which will be held in the pine Club (Algiers), as he did not rule out raising the demand of criminalizing colonialism if discussion will be open with Hollande.

Abdi said on Monday, in a phone conversation with Echorouk, that the file will be put on the parliamentary level after the end of the French President’s visit, as decision will be based on what else happens in the visit, as representatives of the people in the parliament expect a positive step from the newcomer to Elysee Palace, after the decision of admitting crimes of October 17, considering it a positive step that lays the foundation for the normalization of relationships to the fullest extent.

“The group which took the initiative to collect signatures of representatives before reprogramming the bill and presenting it to parliament during future meetings, as the internal law of parliament required the need to collect signatures to reintroduce the bills that are proposed for the first time a full year”, he added.

The MP said that a number of MPs will work to re-launch the law within the constitutional institution, having put the file in front of the People’s National Assembly for the first time in 2010, and triggered a wide controversy about the demand of the apology in Algeria and France, adding that the interest of Algeria is above all else, and that there is a political leadership which is capable of defending the political interests of the country, “and we as MPs will wait a little, and the reply will happen according to the power of initiative, which will be conducted by Hollande.”
