Municipal guards to protest in Algeria
The National Coordination of Municipal Guards will go on strike and take to the street once again in 37 provinces on January 7th before going on a national march, national coordinator Hakim Choaib said.
“The National Coordination’s representatives met this week because the interior ministry and concerned authorities turned a deaf ear to municipal guards’ claim,” he told Echorouk.
He added that provincial representatives and the Coordination’s leaders agreed on protesting in 39 provinces to claim for their rights.
According to Choaib, the majority of municipal guards felt injustice as authorities abandoned them once security was restored in the country.
“The provincial protests will be followed by an unprecedented national march if the interior ministry does not open door for dialogue with the Municipal Guards’ Coordination,” he said.
He believes that their claims are social and have nothing to do with politics. “We will not allow anyone to speak on behalf the Coordination about political requests.”
