Nacer Khatir: “We are grateful for Algeria's all-out support for Qatar's bid to host 2022 Fifa World Cup competition”

With just 240 hours to go before the designation by the world football governing body (FIFA) of the country chosen to host the 2022 FIFA world cup competition, Echorouk met with the head of the communication department of the Qatari file, Nacer Khatir, who warmly thanked on the occasion the Algerian people and the newspaper Echorouk for their full support for Qatar's bid to host this prestigious world competition in 2022.

• Echorouk : With just 240 hours to go before the announcement by FIFA chairman Joseph Blatter of the country picked out to host the 2022 FIFA world cup contest, are you still optimistic about Qatar’s bid to succeed in being the winner?

• Nacer Khatir : Well, I should say that the Qataris are rather sanguine about the outcome of this bidding contest and are hopeful of carrying the day as we have put forward to the world football governing body (FIFA) a solid and exhaustive file outlining Qatar‘s abilities to host such a mega sporting event in 2022.

• Echorouk : Do you think that Qatar has big chances to carry the day in the FIFA’s selection operation to choose the host country of the 2022 FIFA world cup in the face other seasoned European nations which have already had the opportunity to host such a  major world cup jamboree?

• Nacer Khatir : Frankly speaking, despite the harsh competition from other experienced nations, Qatar is a contender to be fully reckoned with in this selection operation by FIFA.

• The Qatari bidding file is most interesting and could attract the necessary votes to make it carry the day.
