Nadir Belhadj: I wish I would stay with Pompey and score against the Pharaohs
Nadir Belhadj
Algerian International Portsmouth defender Nadir Belhadj told Echorouk, in a phone conversation that he is satisfied with the match against Bolton, particularly in the first minutes, wishing to win the future fateful match against the pharaohs.
-
Belhadj revealed that he is not worried about his future with Portsmouth as he respects his coach’s decisions.
-
-
-You contributed in Portsmouth’s victory, despite you entered in the last quarter of the match?
-
-
*I was very happy with my goal and before the corner I saw Kanu’s positioning that’s why I focused on him. I thank god because it was the only goal of the match which allows us to stay at the “Premium League”.
-
-
– The only goal of the match was considered Kanu’s despite the ball was bound to goal?
-
-
*My ball targeted the tangle however Kanu touched it with his legs that’s why the goal will be his.
-
-
– But all the players congratulated you and not “Wanko Kanu”?
-
-
*It is the proof the ball was targeting the goal. What is important is Portsmouth’s victory not who scored.
-
-
-Your coach Paul Haarts said good things about you and may be he will give you the opportunity to become a principle player in the future matches?
-
-
*I’m proud with Paul’s testimony and I wish I could gain his confidence to play as a principle player in the future.
-
-
-Why did he choose to put you in the reserve?
-
-
*I respect his tactical choices which obliged me to stay at the reserve.
-
-
-Don’t you think that staying in the reserve seat would affect your skills, particularly since you regularly played as a principle player during Rednap and Adams era?
-
-
*I respect the coaches’ choices and I can’t discuss their decisions. Frankly I’m very satisfied in my team and wish it will stay in the Premium League.
-
-
-But you refused Lion’s reserve seat?
-
-
*No, I did not refuse it. I was put there when the Italian coach Garusso was absent. That’s why I decided to leave the club and played for Lens.
-
-
–Do you wish to move since you are not a principle player in Portsmouth?
-
-
*Everyone knows that I got an official offer from Barcelona, but after the end of the championships I will decide. Now we must save Portsmouth from falling.
-
-
-Do you have contacts with Barcelona?
-
-
*Now, I have neither contact with Barcelona nor with other teams.
-
-
-When will you join the Algerian national squad’s training which will begin on April 25?
-
-
*I will play the last match with Poppy on May 24 and I’ll directly join the training.
-
-
-Do you think the training in France would be enough to improve the Algerian squad’s performance before the match against Egypt?
-
-
*I think the ten days’ training would bring positive results to the Algerian squad.
-
-
-There is talk about the match against Egypt. Do you think the winner would qualify for the World Cup?
-
-
*Of course, the winner will grant qualification for South Africa’s World Cup, but it doesn’t mean it will determine the qualifier because Zambia’s squad will play on its territories against Rwanda and may reach the top ranking if it will win.
