National gendarmerie vows to eliminate the residue of terrorism

He called on his elements to stay on alert and double efforts in their fight against terrorism by exchanging intelligence and cooperation with other security bodies.

The general Boustilla has indicated that the security forces have registered noteworthy results adding that the terrorist organization “ Salafit Group for Call and Combat” is facing dissentions over leadership but is still able to hit innocent civilians and damage properties.

He hinted to the elimination of outstanding leaders in the organization earlier, but he added that the remnant terrorists will try to carry out other bloody acts in a move to prove the sustainability of their activities.

The general’s declarations come against the background of an increasing terrorist activity in the eastern regions of the country which witnessed the resurgence of terror acts especially in the provinces of Jijel, Skikda, Batna,Tebessa and Bejaia.

Ahmed Boustilla went on saying that the national gendarmerie has set up a “ road map” based on the strengthening of security over the borders and raising the number of border guards as part of an overall strategy to fight against all forms of contraband , including drug smuggling, illegal immigration and arms trafficking mentioning .

He mentioned the aborted attempts to supply terrorist groups with arms and explosives and the seizure of huge quantities of drug on the south western borders.

Ahmed Boustilla insisted on discipline among the ranks of the national gendarmerie saying “the gendarme has to be a model in his behaviour, physical appearance and honesty as well as his attitude with the citizens”.

He further insisted on the necessity to prepare the national gendarmerie for what he called as the post-terrorism phase and adapt this security body to the future challenges including the fight against organized crimes.
