National Pilgrimage Office “Complains” To The Presidency About Algerians’ Behavior in Holy Places of Islam

The National Office of Hajj and Umrah will in the coming days, convey to the Premiership and to the Presidency its final report on the 2016 pilgrimage season, which focuses this year on the excesses and lapses of numerous Algerians in the holy places of Islam, most notably linked to the absence of a culture of rites’ fulfillment and the latter’s failure to abide by the instructions given to this effect by the guides of the mission.

However, the 2016 report described the pilgrimage process this year, as rather positive compared to previous years.

According to Echorouk sources from the hajj and Umrah Office, the report included several observations about the e-housing process, which was adopted for the first time, while noting the paltry and disappointing results achieved in this regard.

Thereby, it blamed the failures recorded in the relevant operation on the fact that nearly 20 percent of Algerian pilgrims had not registered themselves beforehand within the electronic track, which created chaos and confusion among the ranks of the pilgrims who could not find adequate accommodation places, according to the report.

The report finally stressed the importance of raising awareness and sensitization among Algerian pilgrims in the coming seasons in order to avert a recurrence of this adverse scenario which tarnishes the reputation of Algerian pilgrims in the holy places of Islam.

It should be emphasized that more than 300,000 Algerians and Algerians completed the pilgrimage to the Holy Places of Islam (Hajj and Umrah) in 2015.

Leaving aside the annual quota of 28,000 hajjis reserved for Algeria, everyone can gauge the great enthusiasm of Algerians for the Umrah, the peculiarity of which is that it is carried out by the Muslim throughout the year, especially during certain holy months of the Muslim calendar and on the occasion of religious festivals.
