National Police Chief vows to eradicate social scourges in Berriane

The head of national police, Colonel Ali Tounsi yesterday moved to the province of Berriane (southern Algeria) in a second visit to this region in less than a month after the one paid by the deputy interior minister Dahou Ould Keblia in a move to set up the security committee to probe on the acts of violence that rocked the region few days ago.

Local sources revealed that Ali Tousi conferred immediately after his arrival with the Committee’s members with the presence of the province’s security committee led by the governor.

According to our sources, M Ali Tounsi was given a thorough report on the first elements of the investigation carried out by four top police officers who stared hearing to people in connection with the events.

The police Director General has, immediately after the meeting, moved to the city of Ghardaia alongside the mayor of the town and other local authorities in an inspection visit to the new republican guards units’ premises.

Ali Tounsi also met the city’s prominent figures from both the Ibadhi and Maliki communities to discuss the best ways to eradicate violence for real and return to normalcy and stability.
